its a hyperbola , only one of the choices even mentions hyperbolas, so it must be it

if it were an ellipse both the signs on the LHS would be positive

if it were a circle the coeffiecents of x^2 and y^2 would have been equal

and its definately not a parabola because both x and y appear as sqaured terms
