please who knows what cause the earth's churning movement to change direction causing our earth's magnetos sphere to rotate upside down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Earth is not a solid magnet. For one thing, its magnetic poles are constantly drifting around. At present, magnetic north is heading out of Canadian territory into the Arctic Ocean at about 10 miles per year. It is believed that magnetic power comes from the Earth's hot outer shell of molten iron sloshing around a solid inner core. As this subterranean ocean of liquid metal slowly whirls around, it behaves like a dynamo generating electrical currents and magnetic fields. Just like the flickering light on a bicycle powered by a dynamo, the Earth's currents are a little erratic, and so the magnetic field at the surface of the Earth fluctuates.

yes thank you but you explained "how" not "why"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here the "how" is "why" itself. Earth has a rotational motion - the outer harder crust moves at a different speed than liquid magma inside Various heavenly bodies exert various pulls and pushes on it These cause fluxes between the outer solid core and magma sloshing inside and so over a period of time this causes the effect that we r discussing.

Anyway, I am not an "Earth Scientist" so can only give this answer....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A boiled egg rotates as a "whole" and maintains its rotation for a longer time on the other hand, a raw egg slows and stops very quickly as the outer shell and inner liquid move at different speeds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well said sir, these heavenly forces that you speak of, if you dont mind, elaborate on it and what exactly are they pushing on...if what you say is true, then why cant our profound scientist of this century devise a solution to end it. planet earth will become an easy target as we all know it..this will be due to the weakned megnetos sphere allowing magnetic apacalypes from the sun to cause an inevitable devastation. need i say more? if care is not taken, our home planet will resemble that of mars.

As I said my knowledge is limited, for detailed explanation you should contact some leading authority on geophyics/geology etc. who might shed more light on this. However, one thing is sure and that is that earth has gone through various upheavals in its past and will go through many upheavals in future too. Humans have been on earth for a tiny fraction of time as compared to the age of earth, so we know very little about these upheavals !!!!

@TREYJIBADE If you wish to know why exactly magnetism "works" I suggest you go to sleep. Have a nap for a few hundred years and by then the greatest minds the world has to offer will have collectively gathered enough information, for now we can accept that these forces exist and act predictably. Any molten metal, when spun, creates a relatively unstable but still present magnetic field. The earth, as a result of many collisions, has gained momentum and spins with a periodicity of 24 hours. The molten metal Harkirat has mentioned also produces an unstable magnetic field - the scale of the earth is so much larger than laboratory experiments that the poles move only a small amount. It can be seen from records of natural magnets held in place as they formed over the millennia that the earth's magentic poles have actually swapped many, many times. The earth's magnetic field directs "magnetic apocalypse" particles to the magnetic poles so, as far as I can tell, this apocalypse would only occur if the magnetic field disappeared altogether. This would only occur if the earth stopped spinning, which would only occur if we got hit by an ENORMOUS object - in which case sunshine is the least of our worries.
