i guess wat ever operation u'd do for finding the largest will involve comparison some where...infact u say this numberr is larger COMPARED to the other number .

check this.
say u subtract x-y and find this is positive, u essentially say x-y>
which is x>y(comparison)

say u divide them x/y and find this's greater than 1 then u write
x/y>1 and hence x>y...(comparison) again.
