which of the following choices represents the expression 10+(2^2-z)? a.10 added to the quanity 2 sqaured minus z b. 10 plus 2 squared minus z c.2 squared minus z plus 10 d. 2 squared plus 10 minus z

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

That is a stupid question. All those expressions are ambiguous, only the mathematical formula with parentheses is exact.

which one is the answer

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

If it must be one, (a) is probably closest to the formula, but it is still ambiguous. You can read it is "((10 added to the quanity 2), sqaured), minus z" or "(10 added to), (the quanity (2 sqaured) minus z)" and only the latter represents the formula.

I'd say c
