What is the difference between windows vista and windows 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Speaking as one using Vista, and who has used XP and 7, the differences at the operating system level are how it works. Windows XP is very stable, it should be, it was built with this in mind, so it is very reliable. Dont ask me what they did in Windows Vista, because it seems to not be able to handle multiple windows (multithreading) as well as XP or Windows 7, but then again, it was only ever a stop-gap before the release of windows 7, something similar to windows 95 when it came out. Windows 7 therefore is the completion of windows Vista. HTH

Windows 7 fixes a lot of glitches found in Vista. Also 7 comes with XP mode which is a free virtual machine running windows xp. The rest is just eye candy and some speed gains. 7 also comes with .Net Framework 4.0 pre-installed and Vista is 3.x.
