i THINK coz it's the seventh operating system by Microsoft !!!i'm not sure though

well, its not the seventh operating system, but rather the seventh line of operating system. like one version of Windows 7 was called version 6190 or something like that, but to distinguish it from 3.1, the NT versions(such as XP) which I think were windows 5.0 etc.
