I have 3 numbers: 57, 5, 68. I know that 68 is 52% of the total. Is there an equation that I can use that will calculate what number 68 would become if I want it to be 65% of the total?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x/(57+5+x)=.65 x is the new number so you want it to be .65 of the total which is 57+5+x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=40.3+.65x .35x=40.3 x=115.14 check .65*(57+5+115.14)=115.14, so we are right

Is there an excel function that will do that?
