you're looking for things with common factors. -n,-3n both have an n so we can write the terms as n(-1-3). we know -1-3=-4, so we have -4n. 7-4n. Think about 3*5-6*5=15-30=-15. That is also 5*(3-6)=5*-3=-15. three 5's minus six 5's is negative three 5's. works the same if you replace 5 by some variable.
