f(x) = summation of nx^n, n goes from 1 to infinity obtain an explicit formula for the function f(x).. what does that even mean and how to find it?? help please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=sum+nx^n+from+n%3D1+to+infinity. I honestly don't think I know how to do this one :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wat happened to your reply before?? i think that was correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, my reply had a flaw. The geometric series only works if there is a constant in front. However, the index of summation is n so since its nx^n. Geometric series falls apart :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would making it into a telescoping series work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nah. In this case, that wouldn't work either :/
