if triangle ABC is translated up 5 units and to the right three units, which of the following would be the new coordinates of point B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

1) Start at point B. 2) Go up 5. 3) Go to the right 3. 4) Write the coordinate of that new point. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. (-3,0) b. (-1,-2) c. (-1,-8) d. (-9,0)

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Here is a picture which illustrates what I was taking about. I made them in geogebra, a great little program for geometry and algebra (it's free and works on all operating systems!) :)

yay I got it right ;) thank youuu!

if tiangle ABC is reflected through the y-axis which of the following would be the new coordinates of point B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

triangle*

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Pretend the Y axis (the one that goes up and down) is a mirror. Now where would the point B appear to end up if it were reflected in this mirror?

how do i calculate the surface area of a triangular prism?
