write a piecewise function for the graph please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just have to find the eqns of the three lines first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the line to the left of the page , its eqn is y=-4, its 4units below the x axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then for the line segment in the middle it goes through points (-2,-1 ) and (3,3) so we can find its gradient , m = (3 -(-1) ) / (3-(-2) ) = 4/5 so we know the graident then we just need one point and then we can use point slope form of a line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so take the point (3,3) , y-3 = (4/5) (x-3) rearrange y= (4/5)x - (12/5) +3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=(4/5)x+(3/5) is the eqn of the second line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

similarly for the third , find the qn of the line between (3,6) and (9,0)

OpenStudy (moonlight):

thanx
