Evaluate the limit as x goes to 5 from the left side: this time absolute in denom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

want to ensure my theory is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea temme the theory...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because we are coming form the left side the absolute value will take a the negative value as in -5 not the positive vaklue of 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur theory is right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are seeing these very often. i hope you recognize them as \[\frac{|x-5|}{x-5}=1\] if x > 5 and \[\frac{|x-5|}{x-5}=-1\] if x < 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the absolute was in the the denom though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pls explain if I missed something sat - thanks!
