Of those surveyed, 68 said they had taken physics, 108 said they had taken chemistry and 12 said they had taken both. Nine said they had taken neither. How many recent high school grads were surveyed? Show your work

68 took physics, 12 took both. so 68-12 took only physics 108 took chemistry 108-12=96 took chemistry only so now adding all the parts, physics only, chemistry only, physics and chemistry, and lastly neither gives 56+96+12+9=answer 173
