Create a Euler diagram to determine whether the syllogism is valid or invalid. No monkeys eat lizards. Koko does not eat lizards. :. Koko is a monkey.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unsure what to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm here. So, are you maing a Euler diagram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i believe that is what the question is asking for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Euler diagrams are used to show how parts of conditional statements are related. The inner circle represents the hypothesis, and the outer circle represents the conclusion. If a point lies in the inner circle, then it also lies in the outer circle. Or said another way, "If p, then q" The question you are doing seems to be the If-Then Transitive Property. If a point lies in the innermost circle, then it must lie in the middle and outer circles as well. Here are two examples of the if-then transitive property. The first example has two premises, the second has three. If it is sunny, then I will mow the grass. If I mow the grass, then I will get paid 20 $. Therefore, if it is sunny, I will get paid 20$. The other one is; If it is sunny, then I will mow the grass. If I mow the grass, then I will get paid 20$. If I get padi 20$, then I will buy a new hat. Therefore, if it is sunny, I will buy a new hat. Hopefully, these examples should help. Do you know how to set up a Euler diagram now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i make one big circle and put another circle in that circle and i would put my point within the seconc circle making the statement false. is that correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?Um...I'm not exactly sure what you are saying....perhaps you could draw it out for me....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok hold on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

geekgirl1988- r u still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.......let me show you. Hold on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cause I'm fine if you want to! I have about 10 minutes until I take my finals testing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you could if its no trouble.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok- It's here. Hopefully, u'll understand it better now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry the writing is sloppy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u still there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does this help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

geekgirl1988, I'm on a tight schedule so if you don't mind, plz hurry up with your responses and questions for me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is thia for my diagram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This migth help you in your diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*might

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hope so. it looks like it thank you. and good luck with your test.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But, can u help me with my Biology?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats ur question and we can both post it in the biology room

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C U there
