how to evaluate 8 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that 8 * (2/3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you make (8 * 2)/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

treat it like (8/1) * (2/3), then multiply straight across... so 8 * 2 on top, and 1 * 3 on bottom = (16/3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take the cubed root of 8 then square that. so cubed root of 8 is 2, then 2 squared is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry ignore that i thought u ment 8^2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now it makes sense I was wondering why would he do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's eight and two thirds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the answer is 16/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):
