use long division.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea bt um nt able to find the rt ans..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what remainder do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x(a-1)+(b+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should have got (a-1)x + b-5 , not b+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea rt bt nw hw to find the value of a n b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right so, for the polynomial to perfectly divide the longer polynomial, remainder should be 0 so (a-1)x+(b-5) = 0 so, for a = 1 and b =5, the remainder is 0
