A student’s average is determined by 3 exam grades and a final that is worth twice as much as each exam. If a student has test grades of 86, 90, and 84, what score will they need to receive on their final if they want to have an average of 90 for the course?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's a guess and check...I started at 90 and worked my way up to 100 and add the 4 together then divided by 4. So... 100.

oh ok what about this one? For their class, a graduate professor asks students to study an average of 3 hours a day every weekday. If a particular student studied for 1 hour on Monday and 3 hours on Tuesday, how many more hours should they study throughout the week to achieve the desired average?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 hours. I knew it was more than three so I did 1 + 3 + 5 I got 9. But nine divided by 3 is 3. So 5 more hours.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait...
