Killed or weakened bacteria(live attenuated) are used for immunization. These bacteria contains the ANTIGEN/material which activates the bodies defense mechanism to produce ANTIBODIES(Materials which kill them) against them whether they are killed(weakened)/alive. live attenuated vaccine eg:- polio(Sabin)vaccine, BCG vaccine, Measles vaccine Killed vaccine eg:Typhoid vaccine, DPT vaccine, Salk polio vaccine Another group is also there called subunit vaccine. eg Hepatitis b vaccine
