Were the Egyptians the first to find gold? Any help appreciated, thanks! :-)

begins to use gold to fashion decorative objects. The
gold was probably mined in the Transylvanian Alps or
the Mount Pangaion area in Thrace.

Gold artifacts have been found in the Balkans and dated to the 4th millenium BCE. This beats Egypt by about 1000 years.
