What exactly is a cell?

In biology, cell is the smallest functional unit of an organism. In prokaryotes(single celled organism) cell itself is the organism. In eukaryotes(multi celled organisms) groups of cells function in a co-ordinated fashion. In eukaryotes cells in different regions are assigned with different types of jobs.
