The ceiling of a house is 30 m long and 20 m wide. How much will be spent on paint if one big can costs 720 dollars and can cover 50 m^2? Please answer clearly and explain the solution clearly and easy to understand. Thanks! (guaranteed medal for a good answer)
okay, the ceiling is 30m long and 20 m wide, so what is the area of a rectangular ceiling which has length 30m and width 20 m?
moongazer, you need to work with me here, and in the process find the solution to the problem
do you know how to find the area of a rectangle?
Paint is expensive, must be a big can, regardless one can will cover 50 square meteres of roof area. So lets find how many square meters total is in the roof. Sq Meter roof area = 30m x 20m or 600 sq meters. Now how many cans? Since 1 can will cover 50 sq meter we will need 600/50 or 12 cans is needed. No of cans = 12. Now if one can truly cost $720 then 12 cans will cost 12 x $720.00 =$8,640
the answer is $8640
sorry for the late reply, anyway, i slightly understood it
Is slightly good enough?
can you give another example? and i'll solve it
Yes. Here is a sample The ceiling of a house is 40 m long and 15 m wide. How much will be spent on paint if one big can costs 420 dollars and can cover 50 m^2? Please answer clearly and explain the solution clearly and easy to understand. Thanks!
Take your time, and logically attack this problem.
5040
am i right?
How many square meters was the roof area?
600
Yes, and how many cans that can cover 50 sq meter would you need?
12
Then you are right. Good job moongazer.
i have another question
Go ahead with the question
why do i have to divide the 600 to 50 just please explain so that i will have no doubt when dividing again, i am just having doubt even i know why should i divide it sorry it my question is complicated :)
The 600 is the area in square meters of the roof. One can of paint will cover 50 square meters. One can ain't gonna cut it! You will need more........but how much??? enough to cover 600 square meters which is 12 times what one can can cover. To find out, how many 50's are in 600, you divide the 600 by 50
Does that make any sense?
thanks i will have no doubt now :)
Great, and good luck with your studies.
thanks! i am reviewing for a state university exam, and there many things needed to be studied i hope i will pass pray for me :)
