while installing did it ask for a root password........(type su in terminal, it will ask for a password, that is the superuser/password to access the root/) go to user account options(in menu) and set a superuser password.....and enable previlages to install and remove programmes. Hope it is not your first Linux installation.

I guess it is because of usermapping if you use ntfs file system.Let me the filesystem i can guide you .(Where you face this problem). I want o/p like this kracekumar@python-lover:~$ df -T Filesystem Type 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda11 ext4 36990536 12918072 22193424 37% / none devtmpfs 1474632 744 1473888 1% /dev none tmpfs 1481240 3116 1478124 1% /dev/shm none tmpfs 1481240 236 1481004 1% /var/run none tmpfs 1481240 0 1481240 0% /var/lock /dev/sda6 fuseblk 77869052 63918196 13950856 83% /media/OTHERS

yesss its the file system i moved it to ext3 and then marked it as exectable then it works no file on ntfs is able to be executed by wine i think its a new security enhancement of ubuntu :) thanks every1

@shashank1199:It is because of user mapping issues in ntfs.
