All you got to do is to produce documents that explain the system work work from the user perspective, it doesn't matter how developers are going to manage to make it happen later. Important tools are UML modelers and a simple writer, so that you can produce documents describing the problem and the desired solution in a higher level. Do not confuse it with the Project phase, where you already need to specify technological directives and specify the solution mechanism, like package names, class names, methods names, designs patterns and so on.
