A rational number is a number that can be expressed as m/n where m,n are Z(integers). So pi, which is equals to 22/7 is a rational number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is irrational number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

π is approximately equal to 3.14159

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22/7 is only an approximation of pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope...its an irrational number

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

"equal" means "exactly the same". Pi is not 'equal' to 22/7. 22/7 is an approximation to pi, but it is not equal.
