t(7t-8)=0 t = 0, 8/7 two real solutions

the only possible way for it to have complex solutions is for it to have a constant term. because the quadratic formula contains : \[\sqrt{ b^2-4ac} \] the only way for the part under the sqrt to be negative is for the expression to have a constant term

if it just have x^2 and x then you just factor out x easy and if it doesnt have a x^2 then its not a quadratic, its a linear equation , and they can only have one soln
