what is normalization?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you give us a context?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (a_clan):

In terms of statistical data, normalization is the method for aggregating numerical values or numerical data ( say scattered from 0 to 1000) so that the new derived values lie within a smaller set (say 0 to 10). Normalized values can then be analyzed for maximum or minimum concentration of data or density.
