what is 0/0 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is undefined. example 6/3=2 so 2x3=6 but 6/0=? requires a value to be found to the unknown quantity in ?x0=6. Anything goes in here! so 0/0=? i.e. ?x0=0 any number goes in here to as any number multiplied by zero is zero. A singe value cannot be assigned so its undefined. Answer: Wiki.

not defined....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep undefined. Another funny is 0!. i.e.zero factorial. this one is 1. Go figure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's undefined.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any no. divided by the same gives 1 any no. divided by 0 is \[\infty\] one question has 2 answers ????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but \[\infty\] is a mathematical cheat for a number that has no value i.e. its undefined. If its not undefined please post its value.

Division by zero is an operation for which you cannot find an answer, so it is disallowed. You can understand why if you think about how division and multiplication are related. 12 divided by 6 is 2 because 6 times 2 is 12 12 divided by 0 is x would mean that 0 times x = 12 But no value would work for x because 0 times any number is 0. So division by zero doesn't work. - Doctor Robert
