asymptotes are the lines that the ends of the hyperbola approach as it goes on and on forever. they are defined by a box in the center of the hyperbola and that box is either square.... or rectangle. or at least that is how i interpret the question

well, as long as i give you good information lol; i was mistaken to begin with; a rectangular hyper is titled about the center to resemble what looks like the graph of 1/x
