When reading a buret, where is the initial and final volumes taken from? The top (where the zero is) or the bottom? If the buret is completely full, is my initial volume 0?

Take the initial reading from the top of the liquid and once you have let some liquid out read from the top of the liquid again. Subtract the first number from the second number, this number tells you the volume you have let out of the burette (if you start at zero, it will just be the second reading).
