is there a limit to how heavy of an element that can be produce? right now i think the heaviest is ununoctium. is there any law that dictates how heavy an element can be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is believed by some that there is a group of stable elements with very long half-lives and large masses that can be synthesised. In 2008, a claim was made that an element with RAM 292 was found which had a half-life of 100 million years.

If the half life does not matter, then there is no limit. You may be interested in the island of stability. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island_of_stability
