Find the perimeter of the larger pentagon if the two pentagons are similar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wrote on side is 15ft

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What information do you have about the pentagons?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.twiddla.com/527982 I forgot to post it lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have corresponding sides of 18 and 24. The ratio is 18/24 or 3/4 All sides would have this ratio.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the perimeter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You find all the sides. Add up the sides and you get the perimeter. For example small pentagon side is 12, big pentagon is x Ratio of sides is 12/x or [(4)(3)]/[(4)(4)]=12/16. The side is 16.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am a little confuse can u tell me again please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sides have a ratio of 3/4 Take the one that is 15, the bigger one would be y 15/y=3/4. Solve for y. y=20. The other side is 20. I wrote it on your twiddla. Find all the sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I saw it that mean that i need to find both number in 2 sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well they are both 21, so just find one, the other is the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21/A=3/4 right then that how to get both side too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can check it. See if 21/24 breaks down to 3/4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21/24=3/4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 can't be right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You made an arithmetic or algebra mistake. It is 28. Now you have all the sides of big pentagon. Add up all sides and that is the perimeter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

116

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I leave it up to you. Good work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much
