How do i find the altitude of an equilateral triangle with side lengths of 8 in.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

altitude bisects the side of the equilateral triangle so the triangle would be split into 2 triangles with side measures 4 and 8. the triange angle measure would be 90 30 60 so the altitude is 4\[4\sqrt{3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

root3 root3 altitude = ---------- x side = ------- x 8 = 4 root3 2 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the angles of a triangle are 30 60 and 90 then the hypotenuse is 2x the short side and the long side = short side root 3 which in this case is \[4\sqrt{3}\]
