Systems of equations can be solved by graphing or by using substitution or elimination. What are the pros and cons of each method? Which method do you like best? Why? What circumstances would cause you to use a different method?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends...if it's a really simple system sometimes substitution is fastest and easiest, especially if it's only 2 equations..solving by graphing to me is just silly if you're looking for nice number values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solving by elimination works better when there are more unknowns (variables) and more conditions (equations)

I dislike graphing as I have slight OCD so m sketches aren't very sketch like so it takes longer however if I had a graph plotter I might do it by graphing generally I like elimination but it's just because that's the one I practise most

I think elimination is the easiest most of the times. Graphing gives a good visual solution.
