What is the role of a antigen inside our body?

Antigen is the substance , which initiates immune reaction in our body. An antigen can be a bacterial surface protein, bacterial products, Fungal hyphae etc....... they trigger the production of antibodies and promote differentiation of T cells and macrophages to kill the antigen.
