Yes. the definition of a rectangle is a 4-sided figure with opposite sides parallel and opposite sides equal length. A square just happens to have all *four* sides equal length. It's a special case of rectangles.

that definition is not exactly correct. A rectangle has 4 right angles. Mtbenders definition is for the parallelogram
