In January, your ceramics class begins with 12 students. In every month after January, three new students join and one student drops out. (a) Write a linear equation to model the situation. (b) Graph a model (c) Predict the size of your ceramics class in May and June. Need help with a and c and then will try my hand at the graphing.

OpenStudy (annon):

a) y=2x+12 c) may = 18 june = 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if I understand correctly, the slope is 2 and the y-intercept is 12?

OpenStudy (annon):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Won't May be 20 and June 22 with this equation?

OpenStudy (annon):

after january. so not counts january

OpenStudy (annon):

so don't count January* sorry couldnt spell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But we start with 12 in January. Then February would be 12 +3-1=14, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So add two to each month: March 16, April 18, May 20, June 22?

OpenStudy (annon):

ya sorry i miss counted

Okay, just wanted to be sure when I applied your explanation that I was coming up with the correct answers. Thanks.
