Do you agree that I can add any constant to both sides of the equations and it would remain intact?

For example, 2 + 4 = 6 --> (2+4)+8 = 6+8?

The same holds true for subtraction as well. 

To find x, you need to bring all the numbers to one side and take x to the other.
