solve -0.9x<-63

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 7 but Im still not sure that is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Reduce[-9/10 x < -63] = x > 70 Reduce is a Mathematica function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x=70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is x>70 it is different from x=70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-0.9(70)<-63?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perhaps I should have used a right arrow rather than an equal sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to put it in a solution set so it would be {x/70} i cant figure out how to do a verticle line lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide both sides by 0.9 to get \[-x <70\] then since both sides are negative, you make them positive and reverse the sign in between so < becomes > so finally \[x>70\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve -0.9x<-63 x>(-63)/(-0.9) x>63/0.7 x>90

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should change the < to the >

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the answer key it doesnt give me that option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 90?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i noe the option for the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its {x/?}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shd101wyy made a mistake... on the right hand side he divided by 0.7 instead of 0.9 !!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 70 then correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes ans is that x>70 tena see my solution above, it is easy to understand and correct too !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the option is x/? then the answer may not be 70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the solution is {x/70}? thats what they give me to type in my asnwer. the / does not mean fraction its a verticle line. I dont know how to make one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank yall very much

OpenStudy (bobbyleary):

Don't mean to jack this solution. Tena32, I have to apologize about your x=-4 question. The slope is undefined. I mixed up my axes. Sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks ill fix it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

medals for those who gave GOOD help !!!!!
