Determine wheter the given numbers are solutions of the inequality. 6, -13, -19, -2 Inequality y-9>2y-4

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

6 isnt.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

infact none.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a question about these.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you just plug those numbers into the Y and see if the inequality becomes true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, you can do that. Also, you can solve for y as if it is an = instead of an inequality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so add 4 to both sides. Then subtract y from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As long as you don't divide by a negative number (which reverses the inequality)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can do it both ways to check your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you everyone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(two of the numbers work, two don't)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you ...I solved and figured it out . 6, and -2 don't work.
