so you just plug those numbers into the Y and see if the inequality becomes true?
yes, you can do that. Also, you can solve for y as if it is an = instead of an inequality

so add 4 to both sides. Then subtract y from both sides
As long as you don't divide by a negative number (which reverses the inequality)
You can do it both ways to check your answer
