try it yrslf.

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

When x = 0 , y = 8. So put a point at (0,8). Now from there, the slope is 7 up and 5 to the right. So starting at the point (0,8) go 7 up and 5 to the right and put a new point. Then connect the dots with a ruler. :)

how does x = 0?

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

The whole idea of a linear equation y = blah times x + some other number is "input a value of x , output a value of y". I can choose x to be whatever I want. So I chose 0 because it is an incredibly easy number to work with. :)
