Since you are incorporating aspects of social gaming into OpenStudy, leader boards seem like the logical next thing add. Play around with Game Center on an iOS device for ideas.

You could have participation leader boards that track a variety of things (experience, medals, questions asked, etc) by individual by group.

You could also have leader boards that compare the groups themselves (math, comp sci, english) and track things like participants, total questions asked, total experience, total questions answered, etc.
