Which values are solutions of the equation x³ = ³√tanx? (The exponent is a three btw) It's was a multiple choice question but how do you essentially solve the function? (or solve for x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well one solution is obviously 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i graphed it on my calculator and got 3 roots for x between -pi and pi radians: - 0. 1.07 and 1.55 radians these were the points of intersection of y = x^3 and y = cube root of tan x

you can get more accurate results by the trial and improvement method: use x³ - ³√tanx = 0 and plug in successive values of x until the result gets closer and closer to 0. Start with say 1.06 and go up in increments of 002 or 001. use a calculator of course! Do the same near the other root.
