\[f(x)=^{?}\]
f(x) means that there is some function that takes values of x and gives back values based on how the function operates on the input. in this case; the function takes the value for x and squares it: x*x ; and gives back the value for x^2
var = x; f(var) = var*var; f(6)= 6*6 = 36;
