find the maxima and minima of the : f(x)=underroot x for all x belong to [4,16]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=\sqrt{x}\] right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maxima or minima occurs at points where the derivative (slope) is zero... ie \[d[f(x)]/dx=0\] But here the derivative is \[1/2\sqrt{x}\] which is never zero in the interval... so there aren't any maxima/minima...
