if the number is negative do I switch the > to a <??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<1/18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you, did you just multiple -2 by the 1 and by the 9 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by (-2) or multiply by (-1/2) you want 1 in a front of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooh ok

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

HINT: A quick way to remember the rule for "flipping the sign" is this quick test: -1 < +1 But if I multiply both sides by -1 (-1)(-1) > (-1)(+1) +1 > -1 so the sign must be flipped. :)
