he length of a rectangle is fixed at 23cm. What widths will make the perimeter greater than 86cm? the width must be greater than ? cm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

width must be greater than 20 cm

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

>20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you come up with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p = 2L + 2B here length is fixed 23 cm so 2L = 46cm if perimeter is 86 then 86-46 = 2B so 40 = 2B ==> B = 20 But since perimeter has to be greater than 86 and we can't change the length so width has to be greater than 20 cm Hope this explains it for you ????
