if you notice that .5 is another way to write 1/2 then all you do is multiply both side by -2

i divided -20 by 0.5 and got 40, is that right?

thats correct; but whenever you multiply or divide by a negative; the sign in the middle flips

they dont tell you that when you do equations; becasue its rather redundant to flip and = sign
