RAM =>A tamil movie directed by ameer which won lots of attention because of acting of jeeva and director, and my favorite movie. :D(Just kidding) RAM =>Random Access Memory . All your application bring data to RAM and process because of speed of memory and execution.Processes run in RAM.

OpenStudy (a_clan):

Volatile memory of computer which holds all the currently running processes as well as the related data (depending upon size of RAM). It is volatile because the data held by it is lost, once the computer is switched off. It is the live memory of your computer, made of semi-conductor, and way faster than the permanent memory( Hard Disk). But it is costlier than secondary storage devices. About the name "Random Access"- modern RAMs no more access data randomly, instead in bursts of data. But the name still continues to be in use.
