Algebra: ( x + 1)^3

OpenStudy (lalaly):

whats the question? expand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Expand and simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

= (x+1) * (x+1)^2 = (x+1) * (x^2 + 2x 1) = x^3 + 2x^2 + x + x^2 +2x + 1 = x^3 + 3x^2 + 3x + 1

OpenStudy (lalaly):

(x+1)(x+1)= x^2+2x+1 (x^2+2x+1)(x+1)= x^3+x^2+2x^2+2x+x+1= x^3+3x^2+3x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+1)(x+1)(x+1) first do (x+1)(x+1) to get x^2+2x+1 then multiply that answer (which is equal to the first two (x+1) thingies by the third one: (x^2 + 2x + 1)(x+1) You get x^3 + 3x^2 +3x + 1

@lalaly: Make sure to combine your like terms on the x^2 terms!
