y = 5x - 7 y = 5x + 8 You can tell that because they have the same slope (and thus are parallel) but start at different locations that they will NEVER intersect. Hence, there's no solution.

Oh, by the way... for the previous example, I just realized that this is a geometry class. If you have to show work, make sure you graph the equations. The point that they intersect is the answer. You'll see that it ends up intersecting at the (6,2) point that I'd earlier mentioned as the answer.
